My Top 10 Favorite Places to Visit in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is famous for its spectacular coastal scenery, warm hospitality, and rich cultural heritage, and Cape Breton Island captures the very best of these charms. Here are my top 10 favorite reasons to vacation in Nova Scotia, each highlighting unique local businesses paired with unforgettable nearby sightseeing spots.
1. A Small Town Deli and Inverness Beach 🌊🧺
Start your adventure at A Small Town Deli, a beloved small-town spot renowned for its hearty sandwiches, fresh salads, and delightful baked goods. There has been many a time Nick and I drove across Cape Breton Island just for a pastrami sandwich at the deli (yes, it is that good!).
Perfectly packaged for a picnic, their delicious food can be enjoyed just minutes away at Inverness Beach, known for its expansive sandy shores, gentle waves, and picturesque sunsets that showcase some of Nova Scotia’s most stunning evening skies.

Chéticamp also serves as a gateway to the breathtaking scenery along the Cabot Trail, offering stunning ocean views and numerous hiking opportunities.
A favorite hike I enjoy while in the area is the Gypsum Mines Quarry Trail, a decent hike with spots to stop along the way and a beautiful view at the end of the hike. The view at the end reminds me of a mini Lake Louise.
